Spedag Ladies FC, the only Coast club to feature in the Kenya Women Premier League traveled to play some of their matches. Spedag is a well-known and established women soccer clubs having featured prominently in the country’s top league.

It was the first lady’s club to be formed at the Coast and is being regarded as the region’s soccer queens. The team which was first called Shimanzi Railways Ladies FC dominated Coast Region soccer and has since being the only established team in the region. Spedag Ladies will remain at the top because of the sponsorship by Spedag Interfreight through M+R Spedag Group of Companies. Among former international players who were Spedag players are goal-getter Alya Mohamed and midfielder Lilian Nandundu who is now an official of the Mombasa sub-branch of Football Kenya Federation (FKF). Other prominent former players are Florence Awuor, Fatuma Daniel and goalkeeper Grace Atieno.

Current team players who have appeared for the national team are defenders Terry Ouko, Gerada Akinyi, midfielder Jackline Ogol, goalkeeper Miseta Waweru and striker Sharon Bushenei. New signings are Tabitha Mweni from Soccer Sisters of Nairobi, Terry Ouko from Matuu of Eastern Region, Julia Gathoni and Dorris Anyango of Nairobi’s Old is Gold. Other new signings are Murral Auma and Ann Aluoch. Other Spedag Ladies players are Miseta Waweru and Sabina Wambuga (goalkeepers), Bahati Nyambura, Dorothy Akoth and Jacinta Momadi (defenders), Zena Hamisi, Grace Sayo, Caroline Anyango and Dorothy Mdawida (midfielders) and striker Lilian Awuor. The team is trained by former Harambee Starlets player Cristina Nanjala who is assisted by Julia Smith.
