All set for Premier League gala awards

The inaugural Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) awards is set to be held on Friday 8 December at the Silver Springs hotel in Nairobi. The initiative which is a brainchild of the women football stakeholders will have nine categories awarded, with curtains closing in on the 2017 season by the end of the month.

We are so proud that our player Esse Akida is the face on the banner of this important event

Three Nominees
Like it is the norm during such events, a panel of selectors including coaches, media personnel, team captains and FKF officials has been put in place to come up with three nominees in each of the nine categories as well as the ultimate winners.
“The gala will set precedence to other leagues and countries in the region as they will follow the example of Kenya. For a long time women football has been neglected and it will change the mindset that women football has no benefits to any stakeholder. Players who are about to quit will therefore invest more time in the game, and eventually we start seeing players from Kenya playing professional football overseas,” said one of the organizers Mustapha Nassur.
